LiFePO4 House Batteries for RVs, Campers and Vans
Most rigs run a 12V house bank, and a LiFePO4 pack drops straight into the space the old lead-acid batteries occupied. The difference shows up the first time you camp without shore power: you can use nearly the full capacity instead of stopping at half, and the pack weighs roughly a third less for the same usable energy.
How much do you need? A fridge, lights and device charging over a weekend typically runs 100–200Ah. Add an inverter for coffee, an induction hob or a microwave and 280Ah is a more realistic floor. Rooftop air conditioning is the big one — plan on 300Ah or more, or step up to 24V so the inverter draws half the current.
When to go 24V or 48V. Above roughly 2000W of inverter load, 12V cabling gets thick, hot and expensive. Moving to 24V halves the current for the same power; 48V halves it again.
Bluetooth models let you check state of charge from inside the van without opening a battery compartment.
